ESGE-YEP Exchange Programme 2026: An International Opportunity for the Next Generation of Gynaecological Endoscopists

The future of gynaecological endoscopy depends not only on technological innovation, but also on the ability to educate, inspire, and connect young surgeons across borders. Recognising this need, the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) continues to invest in the professional development of early-career specialists through one of its most successful international initiatives: the ESGE Young Endoscopists Platform (YEP) Exchange Programme.

Designed for residents, fellows, and young gynaecologists with a passion for minimally invasive surgery, the YEP Exchange Programme offers a unique opportunity to experience clinical practice in leading European centres, learn from internationally recognised experts, and become part of a global network of future leaders in gynaecological endoscopy.

Experience. Learn. Connect.

These three words perfectly describe the philosophy behind the YEP Exchange Programme.

Unlike traditional educational courses, the programme is based on direct clinical observation within accredited host institutions. Participants spend several days immersed in real hospital environments, observing surgical procedures, multidisciplinary collaboration, perioperative management, and different approaches to patient care.

The objective is not simply to observe surgery, but to understand how excellence in minimally invasive gynaecology is achieved through teamwork, structured organisation, continuous education, and clinical expertise.

YEP Exchange 2026: Poland Welcomes the World

Applications are now officially open for the ESGE YEP Exchange Programme 2026, which will take place in Poland from 30 September to 2 October 2026, immediately before the 35th ESGE Annual Congress, scheduled in Kraków from 4 to 7 October 2026.

Participants will have the opportunity to visit some of the most respected ESGE host centres across Poland, each offering a unique educational experience based on its own clinical expertise and surgical specialisation.

Every placement is different, allowing participants to discover diverse healthcare systems, institutional organisations, and surgical philosophies while expanding their professional perspective.

A Unique Educational Experience

The programme has been specifically designed for young gynaecologists at the beginning of their endoscopic career.

During the observership, participants will gain exposure to:

  • Advanced minimally invasive gynaecological surgery
  • Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy
  • Laparoscopic procedures across different subspecialties
  • Management of complex benign and oncological conditions
  • High-volume surgical centres
  • Multidisciplinary clinical environments
  • Modern approaches to surgical education and mentorship

Beyond the operating room, participants will experience how leading European centres organise patient pathways, multidisciplinary decision-making, and continuous quality improvement.

Learning Beyond Technical Skills

One of the greatest strengths of the YEP Exchange Programme is its international dimension.

Young surgeons from different countries meet, exchange ideas, discuss clinical cases, and establish professional relationships that often continue long after the programme has ended.

This multicultural environment encourages:

  • international collaboration
  • exchange of knowledge
  • professional networking
  • cultural understanding
  • lifelong friendships within the ESGE community

For many participants, the YEP Exchange represents the beginning of an international professional journey rather than simply a short educational experience.

The Perfect Introduction to the ESGE Annual Congress

The timing of the programme is no coincidence.

By taking place immediately before the ESGE Annual Congress, participants can seamlessly continue their educational experience by attending one of the world’s most important scientific events dedicated to gynaecological endoscopy.

This combination allows young surgeons to move directly from observing clinical practice inside leading hospitals to discussing the latest scientific innovations with internationally recognised experts during the Congress.

It is a complete educational pathway that combines clinical exposure, scientific education, and international networking.

Why Young Gynaecologists Should Apply

Medical knowledge continues to evolve rapidly, and the best surgeons are those who never stop learning.

The YEP Exchange Programme offers an opportunity to:

  • observe experienced surgeons in real clinical settings
  • discover different approaches to minimally invasive surgery
  • improve clinical reasoning
  • expand professional horizons
  • become part of the international ESGE community

For many young specialists, this experience becomes one of the most formative moments of their professional career.

A Shared Mission with GESEA

The philosophy behind the YEP Exchange Programme closely reflects the mission of the GESEA Educational Programme.

Both initiatives share the same vision:

  • structured education
  • international collaboration
  • continuous professional development
  • excellence in patient care
  • the preparation of the next generation of gynaecological endoscopic surgeons

At the GESEA Training Center of the University of Naples Federico II, we strongly encourage young gynaecologists to take advantage of international educational opportunities such as the ESGE YEP Exchange Programme.

Because becoming an excellent surgeon means never stopping learning, never stopping sharing, and never stopping growing.
